The Spirituality of Music Symposium
The lines are beginning to blur in the church between what is considered sacred music and what is often labeled secular music. The Spirituality of Music symposium on Wednesday, March 6 at 6:30pm at UBC will seek to broaden the discussion of what we understand to be sacred and how spirituality is a part of music whether it is labeled secular or sacred. Our distinguished panel of presenters will guide us through this conversation to provide a theological perspective as well as an experiential perspective on what constitutes the spirituality of music. Dr. David Johnson, Assistant Professor of Christian History and Christian Spirituality, Erin Ivey, a local Austin musician, and Noel McKay and Brennen Leigh, local Austin musicians, are our panel of presenters.
Panelists Brennen Leigh and Noel McKay will also be performing at UBC the next day, March 7 at 8pm as part of our Cathedral Concert series. Doors open at 7:30pm.
