As I mentioned in my last letter to you all, I never know what I should share when I write. So I’ve been sitting in my chair for about ten minutes staring into a plate of eggs (I don’t even really care for eggs, but I haven’t been grocery shopping this week…) wondering what I could possibly share with a community of people so vibrant and bold as ours.
I don’t have much to say to you today, but I do want to say “thank you” for all that you do. I want to acknowledge publicly how grateful our staff is for every one of you. We’ve been talking in our staff meetings about how much our congregation does for the church and for each other, and for the staff. You guys are living every bit as fully as a church should live. We’re rarely short on volunteers, people are eager to be involved in worship services, I see you spend time with each other outside of the church, you stand firm in your convictions and beliefs for justice and it shows in worship. I could go on, and on, and on… and on and on and on… You are doing everything right. I love my job not just because the staff here is excellent, but because every day I get to do something that will (hopefully) benefit the church and give back to you, and to our community.
We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses who have built this incredible place for us. We join them in continuing the tradition as we move into the future. Thank you for making UBC a truly special place for each other, for the staff, and for everyone who comes through our doors.
Minister of Music and Outreach
P.S. I didn’t finish my eggs. I took a break and went for donuts.
