Jonathan Castillo (he/him) is currently the principal bassoonist for the Mid-Texas Symphony, second bassoonist for the Shreveport Symphony, and a substitute for the Austin, San Antonio, Waco, Corpus Christi, and Victoria symphonies. He is a passionate church musician having served as pianist, organist, and assistant music director for churches in Austin and Waco. As a collaborative pianist, Jonathan has performed with numerous theatres in the greater Houston area, including Theatre Under the Stars and the Texas Repertory Theatre. He has a diverse education in style and genre and has served as a student collaborative pianist at Baylor University playing for solo and chamber music in both vocal and instrumental groups. While most of his life is consumed by music, Jonathan is also a coach for indoor cycling classes and a certified personal trainer. In his free time, he enjoys cooking and binging old sitcoms on Netflix. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Bassoon Performance from Baylor University and a Master of Music degree from the University of Texas in Austin.
