Associate Pastor
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Directly Supervises: Director of Hospitality, Director of Finance, Sexton
Status: Full-Time
FLSA: Exempt
Salary Range: 65,000-75,000 annually, commensurate with experience
Other Benefits: Retirement benefits of an additional 16% of salary + housing;

Job Summary
The Associate Pastor will lead UBC’s efforts in development and restoration of our physical space in Austin’s West Campus. They will oversee the administrative aspects of UBC’s ministry as we continue to be a place of worship, sanctuary, and healing in our neighborhood. They will provide pastoral care and leadership to the congregation in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Senior Pastor.
Essential Functions
Oversees day-to-day church operations, appropriately resourcing our space for the benefit of UBC’s mission and vision in our community.
Establishes and maintains productive relationships with our current tenants and community partners, and explores new possibilities for use of space in alignment with our values and goals.
Spearheads management and implementation of all building infrastructure projects, both deferred maintenance and new development.
Directly supervises non-ministerial staff (including Director of Hospitality, Director of Finance, Sexton and custodial staff).
Facilitates the annual budget process, and provides financial and operational reports and data for church leadership and meetings.
Plans and implements Spiritual Formation programming for adults including Sunday Study, special series, events, and lectures in coordination with the Senior Pastor and Spiritual Formation Director.
Offers pastoral care, including benevolence, to UBC members and guests as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Assists Senior Pastor and church leadership in strategic planning, decision making, and implementation of church initiatives, working with appropriate committees.
Collaborates with ministerial staff in creating and leading meaningful weekly worship experiences (with opportunities for preaching, if desired).
Other Responsibilities
Maintains, updates, and ensures implementation of church policies.
Performs and coordinates weddings and funerals in the absence of the Senior Pastor or at the request of members of the church.
Shares responsibility for pastoral care and support at our weekly food programs.
Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications
Master of Divinity or equivalent experience;
A minimum of three years ministerial or non-profit leadership experience;
Affirmation of UBC’s vision and values as a community “rooted in faith, progressive in action,” and ability to demonstrate previous leadership in progressive faith spaces;
Strong skills and experience managing finances and personnel;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written;
Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
